Hi everyone! We were so blessed to be in your presence at the Declare Conference!
In case you didn’t get a chance to stop by our mini-MarketPlace, we wanted to share a little more about our ministry & how Fashion & Compassion started!
In 2009, our Co-Founders, Michele Dudley & Celeste Bundy, went on a mission trip together to Burundi & Rwanda and met women who wanted nothing more than to provide for their families. They came back to their community in Charlotte, North Carolina where they started selling simple paper bead necklaces made by women overcoming extreme poverty.
Three years later, Fashion & Compassion was born and it’s been our mission to connect caring consumers (like you!) to vulnerable artisans around the world through economic empowerment.
To do that, we partner with like-minded organizations to help holistically transform our artisans & we donate ALL of our net proceeds back to the partner associated with each project to help provide counseling, financial management assistance, housing, recovery & whatever other services our artisans need. To date, we’ve had the opportunity to give over $200,000 back to our ministry partners & that money has been used to:
- Purchase a safe-house for human trafficking survivors in Ecuador
- Care for & educate 12 abandon children in Ethiopia
- Start a school for the blind in Rwanda
- Start micro-business training in Uganda
Empowerment & giving is the heart of our organization but at the end of the day, we’re just a team of Jesus loving women who are doing our best to change the world. It’s our calling & it’s a really big assignment but we’ve realized along the way that we can’t do any of it without you or Him!
We have projects in 6 different countries & when you purchase one of our handcrafted accessories, leather goods or bags, you’re not only investing in a one-of-a-kind piece, but you’re also investing in someone’s quality of life. And we believe that kind of empowerment is something that can truly change the world!
As our way of saying thank you for welcoming us into the Declare Community, we’d like to offer you $10 off your next purchase of $100 or more when you use the code DECLARE now through 8/31.

Thanks for helping us empower vulnerable artisans in the US & around the world!
