Have Questions?
Great! We’ve got answers.
2019 EDITION
Q: What is Declare all about?
Declare is a conference equipping women to walk in their calling as Christian communicators. The theme of our 2019 Conference is Get Your Hopes Up! Click here to read more about the heart behind Declare.
Our conference offers opportunities for worship, connecting with other like-minded women, receiving inspiration and practical information for our lives and ministries. The conference schedule includes keynote speakers, breakout sessions on specific topics, a dedicated prayer space, a vibrant Sponsor Market, optional publisher/agent appointments, and networking events. We have a lot of fun, too!
Q: What is included in the price of a ticket to The Declare Conference?
Your Declare ticket includes full access to three days worth of sessions. The ticket price also includes conference materials, amazing worship, time to connect and shop with our incredible sponsors, and sweet parting gifts, and so much more {leave room in your luggage!}
Appointments with industry Publishers / Literary Agents are optional, and sold and priced separately.
The ticket price does not include travel, lodging, or meals.
Q: How can I connect with other attendees?
Please join our Declare Conference Community Group on Facebook! Don’t be shy! Introduce yourself and let us know you are coming. Our Declare community is full of phenomenal, encouraging women in the trenches with you. Ask questions, look for a roommate, share your thoughts, and so much more. We can’t wait to connect with you online.
Q: Will there be any Labs this year?
Not this year. This year, your ticket gives you access to ALL sessions, all three days.
Q: Is this conference geared toward local Dallas/Fort Worth attendees in particular?
Nope, not at all! We welcome Christian women communicators from all over, with many attendees and speakers traveling in from all over the world to participate each year!
Q: When should I get to the conference by and when should I plan to leave?
Conference schedule will be announced soon. Plan to be at the conference all day on October 21, 22, and 23.
Q: I see two airports in Dallas. Which one should I fly into?
Either is fine! We recommend checking both options for the best price. Dallas International Airport (DFW) is about 26 miles from the venue. Dallas Love Field (DAL) is about 16 miles from the venue.
Q: I want to stay at a hotel and would like to room with other women. How do I find out who else needs to share a room?
Roommates at conferences are fun! To find another attendee in need of a room we recommend posting an inquiry on our Declare Conference Community Group on Facebook.
Q: I need gluten-free or other allergy-friendly meals. Will I be able to eat anything at the conference?
We understand how hard it is to find food you can eat when you have food allergies, intolerance or celiac disease. When you purchase a ticket to the conference be sure to answer the questions about your special food needs and we will make sure you have the appropriate meals. We have made every effort to provide gluten-free food options and accommodate vegetarian diets, but we cannot guarantee that there isn’t cross contamination in the food preparation. Feel free to bring your favorite snacks. Please be advised and take every precaution. The Declare Conference is not responsible for illness or incident occurring relating to menu provisions. (Note: once you have indicated your meal preference, we are unable to make changes. Thank you.)
Q: Are children allowed at the conference?
No, sorry. Children will not be allowed at the conference with the exception of nursing babies.
Q: I haven’t started blogging/speaking/podcasting yet but want to {or, I am very new at it}. Will I feel out of place at the conference?
You are welcome here! You will be in the perfect place to learn and be encouraged by other women who can relate to the excitement, joys, and struggles of starting something new. And let us tell you, almost everyone feels a little insecure at first, not knowing what to expect, but we will make you feel right at home! We bet you’ll leave the conference having made some incredible new friends.
Q: What if I don’t know anyone else who’s going? Will I be alone and feel out of place the whole time?
We’ve all been in that same place of experiencing a conference for the first time. It can seem intimidating, especially if you are going on your own. But … you will find the hosts, speakers, and other attendees to be super friendly! We WANT to get to know you! Be prepared to talk about yourself a lot as there will be many women who want to learn about you and your vision. Also, ask tons of questions and get to know other women! We’re all just best friends with a common dream. Don’t let not knowing anyone stop you from coming. By the end of the conference, you and your new friends will stay connected with throughout the year and make plans to join us {together} again next year.
Q: I’m a more advanced blogger. Will I feel challenged and be able to learn new things at the conference?
Yes, we believe so. We have such a diverse group of speakers and all of our topics range from beginner to advanced.
Q: I want to be able to talk to the speakers, hosts, and sponsors but don’t feel like I can approach them. Are they going to be annoyed with me if I come up to them and gush about how much I love them?
Sometimes seeing someone in person that you admire online can feel intimidating. You want to talk to them but you don’t want them to think you’re a stalker, right?! Please, please do approach them! They are just like you. Perhaps they are a little shy themselves and insecure about starting a conversation {many bloggers & writers are introverts} but we promise you, they won’t bite and would love to chat! It’s always a blessing to know when someone loves your work, so let them know!
Q: I am interested in pitching my book proposal/idea to an agent or publisher. What should I expect?
We are excited that you have an idea and a dream! After all, our goal is equipping you to achieve them. We are honored to invite agents and publishers to the conference to talk with you about your project. We recommend that you bring an edited book proposal or a one-sheet, a confident smile, and a list of questions you’d like to ask. Be prepared to get honest feedback, helpful suggestions, and heartfelt encouragement. We know these meetings can sometimes make you nervous, but rest assured that we are all FOR you. Take advantage of this opportunity and enjoy the process.
TBA: We will announce when these appointments are able to be reserved. In the meantime, keep working on perfecting your pitch!
Q: What age ranges are the women who come to the conference?
The age is from 18 to 110 {okay, well maybe no one in their 100’s … yet}. Whatever stage of life you’re in, you will find others at the conference who are in it, too. Please don’t let age stop you from coming! Oh, and if you are under 18 but want to come with an adult, contact us! We love supporting and encouraging the next generation of Christian communicators! {Whatever generation that may be!}
Q: Is there an area where we can buy things from the sponsors or authors, like books?
YES! We love our Sponsor Market and it gets better every year! Our sponsors are looking forward to meeting you and introducing you to their brand/organization. Many will have products for purchase and fun ways to support their cause. We are excited about the sponsors we’ve partnered with this year!
Q: What should I wear?
Wear what makes you feel confident and comfortable. Most attendees land somewhere between casual and dressy-casual. No need for ballgowns or business suits. We also recommend bringing a sweater or light jacket as Texas gets pretty hot and we tend to compensate with extra powerful AC units. We always encourage you to take lots of photos while you are with us and tag us! @wearedeclare #getyourhopesup #declare2019 #wearedeclare

Q: Will Wifi be available during the conference?

Q: I purchased a ticket but am no longer able to attend. Can I get a refund?
