In the film Divergent, there’s a scene where the main character Tris is led to the side of a building several stories tall. The clan she wants to be part of surrounds her and tells her to JUMP. This is her initiation. As she peers over the side, the view below is obscured in shadow so that it’s impossible to make out what might await her at impact.
She takes off her jacket, steps on to the ledge, and hesitates. What will happen if she jumps? What if she doesn’t?
After a few seconds, she inhales deeply and takes the plunge.
The camera angle changes, and you are looking up at her falling through the air. Now, though, you see the large net extend to brace her fall.
Seconds later, she is laying in the net and the relief, pride, and exhilaration show on her face. She’s taken the jump, and now she’s safe.
My friend Sarah told me that’s exactly what it felt like when God invited her to share her faith with others. She felt like she was looking over the edge into the abyss, wondering if it would end well for her.
Many of us feel that way when we think of telling someone else about our faith. We love Jesus, we know he’s transformed us, and we WANT to share but it is intimidating!!
Thoughts cloud our mind as we process:
“What if they don’t want to hear?”
“What if I say it the wrong way?”
“What if they start an argument?”
“What if they’re way smarter than I am?”
Often, we feel the nudge of his Spirit but we turn around and move away from the edge because we are gripped by fear or because we feel alone or ill-prepared.
If only there were someone who could help you take the JUMP.
You WANT to. YOU LOVE Jesus. But, in honesty, there’s a great deal of fear in that level of vulnerability.
Stonecroft helps women like you make the jump to share your faith.
We inspire you with a vision. We encircle you with a loving community of sisters. We equip you with training and resources on how to “jump” as you love others toward Jesus.
There is a warning, though! The JUMP is what you were created to do. Once you jump and experience His faithfulness, you’ll want to jump over and over and over again.
The very first jump is to connect with other Stonecroft women. As a group, we see and embrace a bold vision to reach one million women with Jesus’ love by 2025.
YOU are the key to reaching our culture for Christ. Join us as we rally, united across denominations, backgrounds, and status to see JESUS lifted high.
Come join us for our next rally on March 28th at The Hope Center.
You’ll be inspired, encircled, and equipped as women share stories of the JUMP.
See you there!
