Grace can be described in many ways….as outward loveliness and elegance, as undeserved kind and forgiving treatment toward others, or even the way we treat ourselves. It also happens to be my name, the name of my mother and of my great grandmother. However, in my life, the most significant meaning of grace is the grace of God, an undeserved gift, which is why I’m here, and the foundation for not only this space, but my life.
Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story… (Psalm 107:2)
As I sat on my couch, coffee in hand, Bible and rescue dog, Kirby, in my lap, still reeling from a move from Little Rock to Memphis, this scripture captivated me. As a person who revels in routine and comfort, I suddenly had much less of both. Everything seemed different, and every day I longed to recreate the life we had in Little Rock, but God had a new story for me here. I wasn’t exactly sure what that story was, but I knew the story I was supposed to tell was that of His grace, and the way that grace was in the process of changing my life.
I knew that if I was to share my journey, it would be brimming with honesty. It would be real. It was on this day (January 28, 2018) that it became clear that I was to tell my story through writing. This dream and calling would take shape over the next few years, as I fell in love with Memphis, adjusted to older, “big kids” and all of the sports, practices, performances etc. that would dominate most week nights and weekends, made many sweet friends, and continued my career in pharmaceutical sales after a year hiatus.
Psalm 107:2 as well as Colossians 2:2-3 and Colossians 3:2, along with prayer and encouragement from friends, family and mentors, led to With Grace. My purpose here is to empower you through scripture and the brave, authentic stories of others. I believe that although life has its good and bad, distractions, sorrow and triumph, in the end, we all want to live in a meaningful way. I want to live my life with grace, in every way described above, and I would love to share the journey with you. Not because of me or anything great or cool I’ve done, but because of God’s grace, and the fact that there is so much more in this life than what we can see.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:18)
