This world, this whole writing, speaking, blogging podcasting, social media world is so good. But, have you ever found it to also be overwhelming? This is not a 9-5 job. This is a career path that is in your face all the time. 24/7. So, how do you shut it down? What do you do to take a break from it all? We know we need to let up in order to recharge, but how?
Here are 5 tips to REST and RECHARGE
- Shut it down
- Pick a day or days to shut it down. This is your rest day. Be committed to staying away from that blog or social media feed. Allow yourself to rest, whatever that looks like for you.
- Capacity Check
- Take time once a week or once a month or once a something to check your capacity. Do you make space to invest in your craft? Do you have time to learn something new about what you are doing? Do you have time to plan and work out kinks? Oftentimes, we create, create, create putting out content without making space for growth. No space equals exhaustion. Make sure you are checking your capacity on the regular making adjustments when needed.
- The One Whose Gone Before
- When you see someone who is thriving where you are struggling, ask her to coffee or lunch or your house. Ask her how she got there. What does she do? Picking the brain of someone who is a step ahead helps change our focus which recharges our soul and our passion for what we are doing.
- Unfollow
- Who or what do you need to unfollow? Their feed is stripping you of your joy and passion. It makes you doubt and question instead of feeling encouraged and energized. Click that unfollow button, girl. It’s okay. You can go back when you are in a healthier mindset.
- (Another good idea is to give yourself a curfew. Put your phone or computer up for the day by a certain time. Plug it in somewhere where you won’t be tempted to pick it back up.)

- Let It Go
- Algorithms, SEO’s, and followers are great but they can swallow us whole. It is time we let them go and remember that God birthed a message in you far before technology came to be. Remind yourself that while the world tells us platform matters, if God has a message for you to share, algorithms don’t stand a chance. Let it go and remember you are called for such a time as this.
‘For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”’ Esther 4:14
